Established 2011 in memory of WA State High School Lacrosse player, Tyler Lucas, who was killed in a car accident on his way to school prior to the start of the 2011 season in what would have been his senior year. Dispite having been diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in middle school, Tyler was able to manage his insulin and play every game and attend every practice throughout middle school and high school. His family set up this scholarship to give back to the Lacrosse community we love so much.
Tyler started playing Lacrosse in the 4th grade for a Creasemonkey Team coached by Steve Wisman. In 6th Grade he started playing for Issauqah Lacrosse Club which remained his home team for the rest of his playing days. He was fortunate to make Issaquah Varsity as a Freshman and played for both 2008 and 2009 State Championship Teams. He was honored to play for Team Washington. His HS Box team won the Stelth Jr Box tournament - where he showed off his short stick skills. He also enjoyed playing with guys from other programs with Seattle Starz and West Coast Starz. He never let his illness keep him from playing. in 2011, 5 our of 6 WA State All-Americans had their stick strung up by Tyler Lucas.
The TL17 Memorial Scholarship provides a financial stipend for a graduating HS Senior who intends to pursue a collegiate degree and play Lacrosse. A nomination from your High School program is required. You don't need to be the best player on your team, you must show leadership, commitment, and have a great attitude. Please submit your coaches name and contact information with your application.
